Fahru tiptoed into the infirmary. Most of the nurses had become sicker and could not help any more. Besides, she was required to come at least once a year for a week to help out, and since she hadn't found any new ideas for a cure...
I'd say they were dropping like flies but...that's so cliche. Fahru sighed and picked up a dropped checklist. She then breathed in and out to prepare herself.
Alright...patient number one... She peered around the curtain and nearly blanched. Stage three, definitely. Fahru checked it off in the third column and scribbled over the previous checks.
The poor lady, Fahru remembered her from the bakery up on the north cliff side. She was wailing and clawing at her face, creating large wounds -- it was lucky she hadn't clawed out her eyes. Fahru carefully bound her hands and took out the needle on a bedside table prepared.
Fahru sighed again and inserted it into the arm. Barbaric, making someone go into a coma, but they'll only get worse and this is really the only way to save them the pain.
On to the next bed...Fahru quickly walking to each bed and checking off the patient, binding and injecting as needed. Patient number twenty three...She took a deep breath and gulped before pulling the curtain aside.
Her mother was asleep but at the sound of her loud feet, she started to stir. She blearily opened her eyes and gazed with clouded eyes at Fahru. In return Fahru fiddled with her felt blue blanket, pulling it up to her mother's shoulders and squishing the cheap pillow. Finally she found her voice again. Apparently, it was just as nervous as she.
"Hey mum, how are you?" Fahru asked shakily. It still hurt...everytime. Thankfully her mom was only in the first stage, one of the slowest developers.
"I'm great, honey!" She beamed up. "Isn't your birthday coming up soon? How old are you now?"
"Two hundred and sixty something, mum," Fahru replied gloomily. For the past seven years her mother had asked the same question, and she hadn't wanted to change her age...
"Hows dad?"
"I'm going to see him next," Fahru waved to her mother. "I have to leave now, you know...to see other patients."
"Alright! See you tomorrow!" Her mother beamed before Fahru closed the curtain. Every year she came...it only was worse. She withheld yet another sigh and moved on to the other patients. A couple beds over was her dad. She pulled back the curtain, but instead of her father there was that man...Derris, maybe? He was one of the new teachers in the children's school. But, where was her dad?!
Fahru rushed to the nurses' office where they were all resting their legs and taking their rare break by drinking coffee and playing cards.
"Where's my dad?" Fahru asked loudly. Her heart was pounding shakily and her arms wobbly.
One of the nurses looked up sadly. "I'm so sorry, dear...he died four months ago. The third stage lasted much faster than normal, but he was in a coma before..."
Fahru stuck a few fingers in her mouth. "Okay..." She walked away hurriedly.
"You don't have to continue, just...go take a break, okay?" Another sympathetic nurse called kindly. Fahru absentmindedly nodded and walked away in a beeline.
OOC: Well, that's really going no where. I felt like writing something...*shrug* Anyone else wanna visit the infirmary?
Oh yeah...er...do I get anything out of this? I suppose if I do I'd like the post option, please.

ooc: Well what do you know! I can! A figure in a dark shrouded cloak approached the infirmary. He walked calmly up to the door. He entered, and did a quick look around to see if anyone was watching. Seeing they were not, he approached the front desk. "Can I, oh, its you." The receptionist said. "Here," The cloaked figure placed some sort of box on the desk. "As usual, and don't make a big scene this time." The stranger turned to leave. then, something stopped him. Another bird demon came up to the desk, and the receptionist informed her that her father had passed away. "Her," The stranger watched as she started off. "Father." He chased after her and leaped in front of her, throwing his hood off. He quickly snatched one of her hands, and lightly kissed it. "My dear, I'm so sorry for your loss." He looked up and smiled "My name is Ark Trisdale, perhaps I can help you a bit hmmm?" OOC: Yeah! I know you thought it'd be the wraith! hahaha!

OOC: Aaah keep the wraith from meh infirmary! I'll beat him out with a stick if I have to XD.
Fahru nearly went bug eyed as 'Ark' jumped in front of her and grabbed her hand. Woah...
Confused at the sudden appearance but also trying not to cry, she shakily smiled at him. "Um, thank you. I'm Fahru...Um."
Trying not to be rude, Fahru stiffly let her hand stay in the same place. Good heavens, I wouldn't be afraid if someone attacked me, but I'm afraid of someone who's nice? Shame on you Fahru!
She swallowed to find her voice. "So are you visiting anyone in the infirmary?"

"Visiting, you might say that." Ark smirked. "I-"
"I my goodness!" The receptionist screamed as she opened Ark's box. "This is! Oh my!" Inside we gifts, wrapped and marked to every patron in the infirmary. Included was a check for an unreasonably high sum. "You do too much for us Mr. Trisdale!"
"Shh!" Ark's eyes dotted back and forth. "I have a reputation, I'm not supposed to let everyone know I'm some kind of mystery care-giver." He stood and motioned for the bird demon he'd greeted to follow him. "Quick come this way, we can continue this conversation without eyes on us."
OOC: Don't worry, I'll keep the bad man away, hehehe. Seriously I will though

OOC: Oh joyous. I have yet to meet the Wraith though, he keeps leaving when I enter a forum. *sweat drop*
Fahru attempted to raise one eyebrow but ended up with both raised. She still hadn't figured the trick out.
Wasn't I warned about not following strangers? Well...its not like I have any money, really-- and seeing those presents he doesn't either. Ah, well.
"Well...alright..." Fahru turned to follow the strange bird.

Ark led the woman following him into a private room. It used to belong to his relatives, but they had long since "checked out" of the infirmary.
"So, I suppose the cure concerns you, hmm?" Ark walked over and pulled a drawer open on a desk with all sorts of papers covering it. "I myself have been doing research in this very room, making notes on my parents stages of deterioration." He pulled out a small case and flicked it open. "And this is what I came to." Inside were several vials of some faintly glowing fluid. "This is not a cure, but it can stave off the effects of the disease by several years. I've been taking it ever since I discovered it." He pulled out a syringe and gave himself a dose. "It works well enough, however, why it is not a cure is this," Ark held a light up to his eyes, a pale golden color. "You can't see it yet, but I am starting to lose my sight." He put the vials away. "Also, the positive effects last for only about a year, I come here annually to re-dose, I don't know how much the disease has taken a grip to me." He sighed. "But I talk to much, what is it you want, miss.....?" He waited for her name.

Fahru stared determinedly at the liquid he was holding.
"Hmm. Well, personally I'd like the cure. That's a very interesting..." Fahru paused as she stared off into space before remembering what word she was looking for. "Liquid."
What's in that liquid that fends off the disease? If there's something in it that slows whatever it is, something can destroy it. Virus, fungi, bacteria...it can be stopped.
"I -- it might be rude to ask, but what's in that liquid you have? If anything, it should be possible to find out why the eyes sight is deteriorating and the -- disease slowed," Fahru, for one of the few times in her life, stared him straight in the eyes. She needed the cure ... and while she had been away all these years, someone had decided to try it himself to find a cure.
Of course. While she looked for another answer---but this wasn't a common disease! This was a new thing and no one would know how to solve it, but if she worked in the area of the disease she'd get an answer faster.
But then she'd die faster. So many problems...here was another lead, and it made her even more determined. Hopefully this person would let her join in experimenting.
What if he thought more people couldn't help? Well at least she'd know that someone else was trying...

"As I thought," Ark looked calmly "The cure is that important to you." Ark handled the liquid carefully "I lost most interest in it when I was too late for my parents, but," He stared at her with his stoic look "I can see someone else is in need." Ark handed her one of the vials. "Give this to your mother, when you're done I will help you with finding a cure. This dose will only last one year, and afterwords the disease will still have progressed as far as it would have if she wasn't taking the antidote. This liquid merely masks the disease rendering harmless, but it doesn't make it go away." He lay the vial on the desk and put the others away. "Take that, and come back, I'll be waiting for you."

Fahru nodded absently as she plucked the vial from his hand. Her feet started plodding out the door and through the hall, but she was in such a deep train of thought she almost collided with a wall.
She grinned at the secretary and walked away shakily.
If only I had had this before dad... The bird shook her head and erased those thoughts, after that dusting the erasers on the top of her mind-building.
Not time to cry or be upset. Later. But this...if he had enough he would probably already be giving it to each patient, but he isn't. That means there is not enough to make a lot of it. What makes it hard to make?
Fahru filed that question away in her mind as she approached her mother's bed. She peeked around the curtain to look at her sleeping mother. After stepping closer, her mother mumbled before her eyes shot open.
"H-hi mum, I didn't mean to wake you--" Fahru began, trying on a cheerful voice.
Her mother clutched at the blanket and turned now wild eyes on her daughter. "I'm cold! Its so cold! Cold--"
"Alright, I'll get--"
"I'm cold as well," A head poked out from a curtain to the left of her mother's bed.
"O..kay...I suppose--"
"It's FREEZING!" Someone shouted from farther to the right.
Fahru, remembering her faint months ago, hurried into a storage closet with shouts of "Please, blankets!" at her back. The door behind her banged close.
Funny, they don't sound insane now...
She took a large pile of wool blankets and balanced them on her hip when she tried to open the door again. They wobbled and collapsed, to the great annoyance of Fahru. Fahru opened the door and planned on just kicking the pile out, but...
It was silent.
Fahru opened the curtain of the bed in front of her to discover the patient halfway on the floor, as if he had tried to go to the closet himself.
I fainted, and then....
"Oh, no," She sprung to as many beds as possible to yank open the curtains. They were all...silent. Asleep. In panic Fahru tried to shake one of the better conditioned ones awake but they did not answer or even stir.
"H..HELP! THEY ALL--ARK, OR ANYONE, NURSES! EAAAA!" Fahru screamed as loud as she could to get their attention. This was...
OOC: Sorry if I mess up any timelines. I can change it if need be. Laa dee daa. Oh, they are all sort of in comas, ya see. But she doesn't really know that so...XD (Am I being godlike by messing with all these NPCS?? Bleh I hope not.)

OOC: *claps excitedly* You said you'd type something and you certainly did! This is good stuff, I can only hope Ark knows what to do Here I go! Ark stared at the vials he'd made. This antidote, why? Why does it only work for me! He picked a vial up and threw it down, it shattered and spread across the floor. He panted heavily, as if he'd just ran a thousand miles. Why?! Mother, father, why didn't this work for you?! He fell to the floor and slammed it has hard as he could. He could fell a strange sensation as blood dripped from his fists. Why? Why only me?Then, he heard that bird demon screaming for help. "I'm coming!" He got up and ran to her aid. "That antidote, why?"

Fahru rested the tube of liquid on a bedside table and drew back her hand. Then, she picked up a fallen patient and tucked them back in bed.
Won't exactly help now..
She turned as the nurses ran from one direction and Ark from another. Now that she had time to think, screaming really wouldn't help the situation, but it had gotten their attention anyways.
"They all went into a sort of coma," She explained. "I don't know how to get them out, and I don't even know if their disease will get worse. But this is bad, because of a---."
OOC: I changed it cause I changed the plot so XD.

OOC: Been a bit, back to this place
Ark stared at the patients, then back at the girl he'd been conversing with. "It was good that you called for help, who knows what could have happened to them." Ark then noticed the vial of his antidote lying on a table. He snatched it up before anyone had the chance to view it. "Come with me." He grabbed the girl by the hand and led her out the room and back into Ark's private room. He closed the door behind them. "I suppose I should have warned you, but don't let anyone else see this. Its our secret, got it?"
I don't want to get their hopes up, he thought.

Fahru felt like crawling into a corner and letting someone else take care of everything. She sighed exasperatingly. No, she couldn't do that.
"Wait, why? What's wrong with it?? I thought--" She started before realizing she hadn't told him the truth about the coma.
"Listen, there's this lady dressed in a toga going around trying to kill people! I bet she's the cause of the coma, especially since everyone fell into it at the same time!" Before continuing, Fahru briefly thought, Wow, she's a major multitask-er.
Then she shook her head and continued, "Has she visited you yet? Argh this is irritating! Why doesn't the antidote work?"
Realizing that switching between two topics may be confusing, Fahru decided to worry about the antidote now and the crazy-lady later.
There isn't anything I can do right now anyways. She thought grimly.

Ark sighed deeply, Why do things always over-complicate themselves for me? Goodness.
"Listen, I must tell you the truth. This antidote, doesn't seem to work on anyone but me. I tried it on my parents and it didn't work. No matter how many times I tried, I couldn't save them." He bit his lip. "I was, using you, to test it again. I thought that it might work this time. I'm sorry for lying to you, but, you of all people should know how badly a cure is needed." Ark turned his back to her. "Forgive me."
Why? Why won't it work? Is this some kind of curse? What have I done to deserve this? He almost forgot he'd bit his lip, and felt a trickle of blood. Gah, I'm such a fool.

Fahru looked at him in surprise, before glancing over at the liquid tube.
It doesn't...work...?
"Well," She was uncertain what to say, but Fahru continued anyways. "It's alright, I suppose. The liquid still works for you, doesn't it? No reason not to see if it will work on anyone else. When that lady...lets them go, we should test to see if it works on the other patients, just in case."
I wonder what could possibly be in that liquid that it only works for him. Or, what's inside of him? Maybe he has a special trait! We should definitely find out what makes him special.
